The sound of running bare feet on the many wooden docks of Killika port woke me early in the morning. We had decided to
take refuge for the night in the extra beds of the store, which had once been the Inn four years ago. Or at least that’s
what I was told by Yuna. Streching and changing my clothes with the Garment Grid, from the White pristine clothing from the
White Mage dressphere, to that of the more comfortable clothing of the Gunner dressphere I got ready for the long treck to
the temple.
I was virtually alone in the room, and felt refreshed after having a decent rest. Considering the last few days I had been
in Spira, I pretty much needed the rest. I pulled open the shutters of the room to let in the sunlight, and saw that things
seemed to be in realitive normal order for the port. There wasn’t any talk about anything strange or anything that might
have caused alarm, so I knew nothing had gone wrong.
At least that was what I had orginally thought.
After having made use of the rooms facillities, I left and went to look around the Port to see if I could find Yuna and
the other girls. I didn’t have to look for very long. When I had taken only a few steps towards the stairs leading to
a bridge that crossed over onto a set of Docks across the ones I was on, a big burly Man, with leather straps crossed over
his chest and back, wearing green pants that were more like shorts then anything came running up to me.
"You aren’t, Tina by chance are you? The young girl who came here last night with the Lady Yuna?" He asked as he
bowed his head and leaned down pressing his hands on his large knees as he tried to catch his breath.
"I am. Is there something the matter?" I said as I pulled my hair into a ponytail and looked around to see if there was
any trouble within the docks. Everything seemed to be fine for the most part.
"I was sent here, to get you. To escort you to the Temple as fast as I could, and by the shortest route possible."
"Well, if thats what you have to do, I guess you had better do so." I said as I took one last look around at the people
who were so calm and peaceful. Then the man and I left.
I’ll spare the details of our trip to the temple. It was short lived. It seemed that there was a hidden path on the
island of Killika, and in order to do so, we had to climb the trees and walk from branch to branch, and then land on the hidden
path and follow it to a point that led to halfway up the steps.
It was overall, an uneventful few moments.
The event at the Temple on the other hand, was something worth remembering. It was like having a sence of deja vu. People
were standing at the entrace of the Killika Temple, but they would go no further. There was also the strained air of fear
and confusion.
I made my way toward the crowd of people and tried to see what was causing the whispered comments, when I heard the high
pitched squeal of Rikku running over.
"Tina! We’ve got big problems. You know that roar we heard last night?" She said grabbing me by the wrist and dragging
me into the crowd. "It wasn’t a Chimera, that’s for sure. It’s another Aeon, and things don’t look
very good. Nobody can get near it. So when Yuna told Donna how you defended Valefore on Besaid Island, they agreed to send
Bartello to come and get you. They want you to try and reason with it." She said as we broke through the crowd and she pushed
me towards the large creature of fire.
There I was, looking at this magestic creature that controlled the power of fire. It was crouched low against the ground,
letting out small growls of nervousness. All the while it looked at me, and I looked back. The creatures firey eyes met mine
and I did not break my gaze. Those eyes alone told stories of ancient pasts. All ending in the same way, and sometimes ending
in the death of a Summoner. Yet under it all, those eyes asked something. They were asking me to grant something. The belief
and faith that the people of Spira no longer had for all of the Aeons.
I took a step forward, the creature, Ifrit, did not move backwards, but it stepped forward, lowering it’s body even
more lower to the ground. Almost as if he were bowing his head, waiting for me to decide what fate he should have.
"It’s okay." I whispered. "Others may not believe you should be here, but I do. I believe you can do me or anyone
here harm." I said as I stepped closer and reached out my hand to touch one of the horns. Ifrit then raised his head and met
my hand with his head, almost nuzzling, and letting come forth a short, growl, that sounded like a purr from a cat, only stonger,
and more vibrant. Ifrit then crouched to the ground again and then pounced me, standing on it’s hind legs it’s
tounge roughly grazing my forehead and hair. After a moment of this, the Aeon, Ifrit crouched low to the ground again and
then jumped into the air and disapeared in the same mannor as Valefore.
Yet this time I noticed something. The pyreflies swarmed me and and seemed to go into me. Leaving me feeling as if a ghost
had walked though me, except the feeling of coldness one would say they felt, was a feeling of warmth, that stayed with me
for a few hours afterwards. I then collapsed onto my knees, and Yuna ran forward helping me up.
"Are you okay? Do you feel exausted, or dizzy?" She asked as she pulled me up, and then offered me her arm so I could steady
myself. Yet I did not answer, for at that moment the people were starting to crowd around me.
"What just happened here?" Demanded one New Yevon follower. "Nobody could get near the Aeon, not even the Lady Donna or
the High Summoner, yet you, someone who isn’t a Summoner, were able to get close to it. Not only that it made peace
with you, and went away."
I shook my head and still did not say anything. It was Donna who did.
"Clearly, this young girl, has been accepted by the Aeons as their ally and friend. If you must question what happened,
think to yourself about what you saw. What you saw was an Aeon and a girl who obviously has the skills as a Summoner, decide
to work together. Whatever the reason, she’s probabaly the only one able to summon them at the moment, considering there
are no Fayth Statues. Get over it. Bartello we’re leaving." With that the tall dark tanned woman walked off followed
by the guy who brought me to the temple.
"So Donna thinks I have the skills of a Summoner." I said as Yuna led me towards the steps. "Funny that she’d even
say that. I mean I’m no Summoner."
"I don’t know about that." Yuna said. "Even if all of them do turn into Pyerflies, and even if we think they have
come back to help you, they are still Aeons, and Aeons are images the Fayth take when Summoners summon them. Yet they even
have shown the will to act on their own in the past."
This comment made me think. Then I remembered the Spheres. The first one had said that a Summoner had taken her daughter
and put her where the Fayth dreamed. What if, that voice I heard inside my head really was saying the truth. What if I was
that Summoner’s daughter? I shook my head. It just didn’t make any sence. It was confusing. Yet, the others all
said that Tidus came from the Dream Zanarkand, and that Zanarkand, my Zanarkand...
Was nothing more then the dream of the Fayth. Some of it did make sence, but not a whole lot of it. There were still questions
I needed to have answered.
"Something wrong?" Yuna asked me.
I nodded my head and looked at her. "When Tidus and I were kids, and something bothered us, we would scream. As loud as
we could. It helped get some of our frustrations out."
"Oh! I get it! Tidus did that here when we Obtained the Aeon. When we were getting ready to leave, something was bothering
him. He let out a loud scream. Wakka thought he had lost his head. So, do you want to scream?"
I smiled at Yuna and nodded my head and let out a loud yell. Oddly enough, the only people who even noticed were Rikku
and Paine. While Yuna just smiled inwardly at some distant memory.
Afterwards, we walked the long way back to Killika Port. Taking only a few moments to buy some items from the local Shop,
and then boarded the Boat heading towards Luca. It would take one day and Night to get there.
