“What do you mean the great, great grandfather of Mayester Jyscle?” I asked as I stared at the apparition
before me.
“Well, haven’t you noticed the Guado pictures on the walls by the stairs?” Yuna asked me as she brought
her hand up to her chin and tapped it with her pointer finger in thought. “The one’s inside the LeBlanc house.
On the left side there are pictures of Lord Jyscle and his father and his grandfather, and also of his great, great Grandfather.
The LeBlanc household used to belong to that Guado Family, it’s also a place Lady Yunalesca rested at, on her pilgrimage
to defeat Sin. One Thousand years ago.”
“No, Yuna, I didn’t pay attention to the pictures. I was kind of rushed out of the house by Tidus, and you,
because you wanted me to come here, to this place of the dead.” I said as what Yuna indicated sank in. My mind was once
again thinking about the dream. This time I started to think about one particular boy from my dream that had said nothing,
and had only stood by watching in silence, and as I thought, that image too appeared beside the image of the other. “So
who’s that I asked?” Yuna took a while to answer as the Image floated before the two of us.
“That must be Jyscle’s father as a young boy.” She said after some thought. “But one thing
bothers me Tina. Why do you have such a vivid memory of these two? They’re not people you’ve known.” I shook
my head. I didn’t understand it myself.
“The only person I really remember dying, is Tidus’ mother. That was when we were both really little
though.” As if by magic the two figures floating in front of us, faded, and was replaced by the image of Tidus’
mother looking young and well. She held a soft smile on her face, as if saying that she was okay, and watching over us. Little
did I know, a small tear escaped from my eye and fell to the ground.
Wanting to get out of the place, I turned and saw Lulu, standing off by herself talking to a woman, that was floating
before her, as balls of light faded in and out of view. It was another memory, and obviously someone from her past. Lulu seemed
to be smiling, as she talked. As I walked past her, I heard her say.
“I’ve got good news.”
I had enough of the images of dead people, it seemed to have a profound effect on me. As I walked down the stairs leading
away from the Farplane I ran into a large Male Guado wearing heavy robes of cotton making his way up the very steps towards
the place I had just vacated. I didn’t pay much attention to him, as I walked past, but it seemed that it was me, who
he wanted to talk to.
“Ah, Miss Tina. I was just told that you were visited by some of my Late master Seymore’s Ancestors in the
Farplane. Please do tell me of the experience.” He asked me as he bowed to me, resting his hands before him on his legs.
I was baffled, and stood there still unaware of the silent tears streaming down my face, but this Guado seemed to have noticed,
as he took my arm and slowly walked with me towards the exit of the Farplane. “You’re crying.” He stated,
as we stopped walking and stood on the bridge that over looked the town of Guadosalam.
“I am?” I asked as I touched my face, and noticed for the first time, the tears. I looked away and wiped
my face and then shook my head. “I, don’t know why.” I said as I turned back to this Guado. “Things
just seemed to happen. I was thinking about a dream I had, and then the two images appeared.” I was hugging myself,
as if I were trying to ward off a chill.
“What did you dream?” The Guado asked, as he touched my shoulder with his long fingered hand. “Sometimes
Dreams, can help explain things from one’s past.” He said in a soft thick voice. I turned to him then, and shook
my head.
“I dreamed that My mother...” I paused and frowned. “She wanted to take me somewhere.”
I then let the cat out of it’s proverbial bag. This Guado simply nodded and took my hand and guided me towards a house
in silence.
“This place is where we Guado stored our keepsakes when we were ready to fade away, in the Macalania
woods. There might be something in here that perhaps you should see.” He said as he opened the door and nodded his head.
“Feel free to take anything that you think will be of help.”
“Aren’t you going to come in too?” I asked as I stood in the open doorway. He only shook his head.
“No, I feel that this is something that you should do by yourself. If you seek answers perhaps our keepsakes from our
long history will be of help.” I nodded and walked into the house, filled with Guado keepsakes, and memories, and felt
like I was stepping into a time warp. The door closed behind me.
It was a circular room, and it was filled with boxes, books and odds and ends. Various keepsakes of the Guado. I sat
on the steps looking at everything. Pictures of Guado as Children, round balls that seemed to glow, books, treasure chests
closed tight, and other things like that.
In the silence I stood, and walked over to the Glowing balls. Solid, orange in color, and smooth. They seemed to give
off they’re own light. I held one in my hands. It was cold, yet it felt comforting. I lifted it up to my face, looking
at it, like a child would look at a large marble, something inside it clicked, and there standing Above the Orange Ball was
a tiny image. An image of a Man. He bore similar facial features, and clothing as that of the Guado male in my dream, but
he seemed to be of the age of 23, if not a year or so older. The Image Flickered and then became strong, and then I heard
a deep tenor voice.
“This Sphere is being recorded after the Lady Summoner put her child to sleep, and on a whim I view as highly mad
and dangerous, took her daughter, only 5 at the time, to the place where the Fayth Dream. They have not been seen since. It
is my hope that this sphere will stay intact for however long it will take for that Child, the Summoners daughter to return
to us. This Sphere is her inheritance. That Child is the rightful heir to the Nirvana Staff, that was made by the Celestial
Powers that Be, for the late Lady Summoner. It is a weapon, that has powers which can be unlocked with a crest and a
sigil, but it’s true powers will only manifest itself in the hands of the rightful Heir. If you who are watching this,
are the child I speak of, keep this Sphere, and the two others that come with it. They are your.. Will.”
The image flickered and died out. I stood there shock registering on my face for the first time, since I had learned
that my home Zanarkand was all ruins. This ball, this little round Marble the size of my hand was a will for some child. Something
inside me screamed. That something screamed, “Yes! That child is you! That’s you’re will! You are the child
that the High Summoner took and hid away in a dream!” Yet another part of me was trying to beat back that other voice
by saying it was impossible. I mean when I stood there looking at that Sphere, that round object, my mind was arguing with
itself. I didn’t even want to look at the other two Sphere’s. For some reason I felt, that if I looked at the
contents of that Sphere, that the part of me that was trying to protect me from the craziness of the situation would go insane.
That thought scared me.
Slowly I made my way out of the small crowded room of Boxes, and back to the outside of Guadosalam. In a Daze I wandered
around until I saw Rikku sitting on the edge of a rail looking at her hands. Shaking my head, I sat down next to her, and
watched the people of Guadosalam wander around.
“Hey.” Rikku said as she turned her head and looked at me. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“You could say that, yeah.” I said as I looked at my feet. “Hey Rikku, I know this probably isn’t
the time or place to even ask this, but have you ever been in the Farplane?”
Rikku looked at me and smiled. “We Al Bhed have a theory. That the Pyerflies in the Farplane react to our memories
of the dead. That’s all the images are, our memories, which live in our hearts. I’d prefer that my memories stay
in my heart. So, no, I’ve never been in the Farplane.”
What Rikku said surprised me. Things were starting to connect, yet I still felt that something was wrong. Something that
had to do with a dream. What dream I didn’t know. I had to ask some questions. This time, I thought I’d talk to
Tidus. He’d know the answers. I was sure of it.
Yet we still had to talk to Tromell, about this Yunalesca person. Little did I know that the one who had let me into
the small house filled with the memories of the Guado was Tromell. Imagine My surprise that night when we had finally gathered
to talk to him.
“Ah, Miss Tina.” He said as he bowed very low his hands resting on his knees, “did you find anything
in the place of our treasured memories that could help you understand why Seymore’s ancestors graciously bestowed upon
you a visit on the Farplane?”
Tidus looked at me then, and raised an eyebrow and leaned towards me.
“What is he talking about Tina?” He asked me as I looked at the others around me, and suddenly felt like
I was being questioned for a crime. So I swallowed and shook my head no.
“No, I’m sorry. I haven’t found anything.” That was the first time I lied. I felt dirty, and
I didn’t like the sour taste in my moth that was left behind while I blatantly lied about not finding anything to help
me in my quest for answers. Yet, I felt like I didn’t want to share what was on that first Sphere I had found. I felt,
that it was personal. Something I wasn’t ready to share.
“Look,” I said. “I’m feeling kind of tired. I think I’ll go lie down for a bit.”
I said leaving the big spacious room in the LeBlanc Mansion and wandered down the halls to Ormi and Logos' room to lie down
on their couch. I felt so out of place, and I was really starting to think that perhaps I was the one who didn’t belong
here. Heck Even Tidus seemed to be happy with his friends here, and his life style.
I just wanted Out.
I didn’t know what people wanted from me, I was scared of the laughter and voice in my head, I was worried I was
going crazy, and nobody really seemed to care about my thoughts and feelings. I was alone.
So very, alone.
I closed my eyes, trying to shut out the loneliness.
“Hey come on girl, time to rise and shine.” Said the voice of Rikku as I opened my eyes. “The others
have talked to Tromell and Brother and Buddy, and Shinra have decided to drop them all off at Besaid. I said I’d wait
here for you to wake up.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes. “Oh, so it’s just you and Me?” I asked.
“That’s right
Tina. I thought we’d go and take a walk along the Moonflow, you know to get to know each other.”
“And
nobody put you up to this?” I asked raising my right eyebrow. “Nobody wanted you to ask me about how I’ve
been feeling?” I said in a rather harsh tone.
“Nope.” Rikku said as she stood up and stretched. “Trust
me, it was all my idea. Also, I thought you’d like to have a friend. You know, someone you can count on when you need
someone to talk to.” She said as she turned her head to the side and looked at me. “After all, I can tell by that
ever present frown on your face, that you need to have a good time once in a while, so come on! Get out of bed, and get dressed.
It’s time to have fun, Rikku style!”
“O-okay.” I said feeling somewhat bewildered and flustered,
as I got off the couch. “We might as well go now then, I’m already dressed.”
The look Rikku gave me was funny in itself. “Aww come on Tina, you’ve been wearing and re washing those clothes
for a month. I think it’s time you got a new wardrobe.” She said tossing me what looked to be a small stone tablet
with small shiny round stones set into it, in a pattern of a triangle.
“Rikku, what is this?” I asked as I
looked at the object in utter bafflement. “It looks like a hunk of stone with gems glued into it.”
“It’s
a garment grid. Everybody uses them now a days. It lets you change clothes with just a mere thought. Shinra invented it.”
I looked at the Stone Tablet and thought about the first gemstone on it, and my clothes seemed to fade, as a White shirt,
black slacks, and purple boots, appeared and replaced my Blitz Ball uniform. I looked up at Rikku and blinked.
“Is
this how you use a Garment Grid?” I asked.
Rikku nodded and smiled. “That’s right, now come on lets go take a ride on the Shopuff, and take a walk along
the Moonflow.” She said as she grabbed my hand and led me out of the bedroom. Oddly enough, there was an idiotic grin
on my face. Rikku, I thought, was truly a very energetic person and her personality was infectious.
